Overwhelming Victory In Christ

No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.
Romans 8:37

This great verse is given by the Apostle Paul as a part of an answer to an earlier question in Romans 8:35 “Can anything separate us from Christ’s love?” Then he lists several things that could attempt to separate us from Christ’s love: trouble, calamity, persecution, hunger, destitution, danger or death threats. But he boldly answers “Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell.”

I find it curious that when people face a particular challenge in their life, they are very quick to either blame God by saying “Why are you doing this to me?,” or to blame themselves with “What am I doing wrong?” They seldom consider the possibility that neither of those conclusions are right.

The Bible is quite clear that there will be challenges in our Christian walk just because of the condition of the world in which we live. Jesus said so, and we read it in Apostle Paul’s writings as well. I also cannot find a whole lot of focus spent on ‘weeding out’ who or what is the cause of each particular challenge. Yes, it is possible we might be suffering the consequences of wrong lifestyle choices. However, we might be doing everything right in following God’s plan, and our adversary the devil is trying to devour us. But Apostle Paul gives us the solution for our victory!

Through Christ, our Lord and our Saviour, because of His great love for us, we have overwhelming victory! We have become ‘super-conquerers’ who are completely and overwhelmingly victorious!
